Coming into the season, Sutter had the backup’s back.

His brother, head coach Brent Sutter, said he’d start McElhinney more often than predecessor Mike Keenan did to give Miikka Kiprusoff some rest.

It hasn’t happened. McElhinney has started just seven games through the first three quarters of the season.

If Kiprusoff stays healthy, McElhinney may not see more than another couple starts at best.

Funny, but this was one of the reasons cited for letting Keenan go. I guess his brother will be out after this year, too, right?
